The only issue which is major is that i still run out of mana, even with a pretty high mana pool and arcane meditation, and raid mana regen Considering the fact that many raid fights last very long even close or over 10 minutes an arcane mage can't keep up dps over 10 minutes.
At least i can't. And I I found good way to reduce mana cost, and still keep damage. Maddy - Ravencrest. Comment by thx mynea was just thinking about that ;D. Comment by Dorothea Calculations aside, cause i cant care to much. This spell proved very useful if used correctly. Example is the fight against Alar, fire immune boss for those who dident know.
Anywho, start off with 2 casts of arc blast, and while the debuff is fading, use frost bolts, cast arcane missiles when clearcast has procced. Even though your not solely using arc blast, it will deal the majority of your damage as clearcast is random.
Yes as a fire specced mage against a boss like alar, you will not top the dmg meters, but you will do a reasonable enough amount against this somewhat easy boss to save yourself the need to spec frost. Guessing it was changed at some point but I'm imagening that this could be shot off more than 3 times in a row to get a very high dps for short fights, since it's got half the casting time compared to imp.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. So it Is a Viable Spec. Edit: Spelling. Comment by Thottbot Pretty sure Blizz will nerf this eventually - it's overpowered at the moment. Of course, as a 65 mage I don't mind an overpowered spell. Arc Missiles costs mana by the time you get Arc Blast, which is very close to the maxed out mana cost for Blast - the difference is you're immediately able to cast 2 blasts in the same time it takes to channel 1 Arc Missiles, and the blasts don't do much less damage than the total caused by all the arcane missile bolts.
When the speed is maxed out, you can cast 3 blasts in less than 5 seconds, with it hitting regularly for over , and critting for much more.
That's damage in 4. Yes, you'll be spending triple the amount of mana in those 4. It doesn't seem to draw much aggro, either - in a two man group, I was able to get about 7 or 8 of these fired off before the mob even looked my way, and I was spamming continuously. Sure, you're going to run out of mana fast, but you're going to deal so much damage so quickly, that it's perfect for encounters with single elite mobs.
But don't get too used to it - I feel a nerf coming around the corner. I guess it was made a debuff so that it doesn't get purged or dispelled in PvP. Your milage my vary. Of course, you won't be doing this for very long before even 13k mana bar goes dry. Also managing to stay under agro during this process could be Chain casting this spell is result in less efficency. And i have no epic gear or anthing that you could get from tempest keep instances. Most all of my gear comes from basic rare quest rewards from the Outlands.
And like someone else has already said, an arcane mage has the most mana than any other class in the game. Focus on casting Arcane Blast during Arcane Power to rapidly deal high amounts of damage. At this point, use [ Evocation ] and begin a "conserve phase. The conserve phase generally ends when [ Arcane Power ] comes off cooldown, but may be delayed for important boss mechanics.
Arcane Blast, like [ Scorch ] and unlike [ Fireball ] , [ Frostbolt ] , and Arcane Missiles , has no projectile animation or travel time. This may make the mage a bit less obvious in PvP combat as Arcane Blast won't leave a brilliant pointer back to the caster. Wowpedia Explore. Classic TBC. Classic Theme Thottbot Theme. Quick Facts. Blasts the target with energy, dealing to Arcane damage.
Each time you cast Arcane Blast, the casting time is reduced.
