The breathless pace to the action is beneficial also in making the audience less likely to pause and notice that the big holes in the movie's plot. Though there may be answers to certain puzzling questions that are just never explained, Skynet's apparent awareness of Kyle Reese's importance makes his survival seem all the more improbable but the plot to lure John Connor into a trap is generally quite convoluted to the point of being nonsensical.
Terminator Salvation was the first movie in the franchise to really expand the vision of the post-apocalyptic world in a meaningful way and it makes the world after Judgement Day its own.
Eschewing the plasma weapons seen in earlier movies and forgoing the liquid-metal-inspired nanotechnology of later movies, Salvation 's aesthetic is decidedly low-tech and bridges the gap between the future and the present in a way that no other sequel has. A number of the main characters benefit from the fast-paced nature of events as they work better while being mysterious or because they're well-established by previous movies. Others, however, feel saddled with one or two defining characteristics that never evolve into anything meaningful during the course of the story and it makes a large chunk of the core ensemble forgettable.
As the heroes quite literally ride into the sunset at the movie's close, John Connor delivers the obligatory closing narration and does something that none of the other Terminator movies ever did and contextualizes the fight against Skynet as being global.
In one scene, he even performs the equivalent of Terminator open-heart surgery on himself:. If this had been the last Terminator , it could have been even more moving. Terminator Salvation Directed by McG. The Premise: John Connor Christian Bale is a ranking officer in the Resistance, fighting an endless war with sentient machines in a post-apocalyptic future. Why It Has a Bad Reputation: While each of the previous films included a scene or two set in the future after the machines have taken over, Terminator Salvation is just set in bleak post-Judgment Day timeline.
The long takes are certainly showy, but they also do a good job of emphasizing the power of the sentient machines. Good or bad in any given role, Christian Bale is almost never boring; Salvation is the rare exception.
In other words, whether the scene calls for quiet emotions or explosive brutality, this is the only Terminator that feels like it was directed by a robot. Joined by an older Terminator Schwarzenegger that was sent back in time to protect Sarah from a young age, they travel into the near future to stop Skynet from going online for the umpteenth time.
Why It Has a Bad Reputation: Terminator Genisys is one of several purported blockbusters released in the middle of the s that took box office success as an inevitability, and deliberately left their stories unresolved in order to tease viewers with potential sequels. The film underperformed, and the sequels were canceled, dangling all these plot threads.

Dead humans are lying on tables, it is a little weird. A terminator disguised as a human is shown, some of his skin is missing so you see his robotic parts, it might scare kids. Men and women are shown trapped in cages, they call out for help and moan. It's pretty creepy. Darkness The story is a little dark. The terminators are capturing humans and testing them. They put them in cages. It's an apocalyptic world, every man for himself and stuff. Is it worth watching? There is an F bomb which is annoying.
