But things work well even when you watch alone. So keep up the spirits and have fun! Every aspect of the TPB series is nothing short of legacy. Want to send birthday greetings?
There are some perfect memes to spice up the occasion. Talk about a cult fan following for any TV series and the team Sunnyvale will certainly rank among the highest positions. Some critics still find it hard to digest the popularity of the TPB group. Many consider this form of comedy as unconventional and are not able to understand the deep connection that people feel with the characters. I am of the opinion that this style of comedy grows into the psyche and ultimately comes to the point of irresistible.
The spirit of the show is very grounded in nature. You will find it easy to relate to the situations. The very fact that you have so many seasons and movies is enough to bring out the level of enthusiasm and love that people shower on the boys. Step number 2: Trailer Park Boys released in was a black and white movie and technically it forms the start of the movie series. Step number 3: Season 1,2,3,4 — The first 4 seasons of the show.
The first 3 or 4 are the best. After that it really just tapers off. They didn't know when to cut it off, in my opinion. I saw their touring show, it was just Ricky, Julien and Bubbles. Show not so great but I would go next time they are in town anyways!
Response by poster: Was that less than 8 minutes from asking until a dedicated informational answer occurred? I'm so broken. In my life. We watched the movie first, it doesn't matter.

Robb Wells Ricky as Ricky. John Paul Tremblay Julian as Julian. While there were a couple of small funny bits, I think that those who say this movie was hilarious may be trying to convince themselves that it was.
To be fair, it has always been necessary to overlook little bits and pieces, to suspend disbelief, if you will, while watching the show. For example, Julian and Ricky have been in jail how many times? Lots, and that's even reiterated for the newbies.
Yet, for some reason, we're supposed to believe that these "con college alumni" never heard of "the big dirty" concept until this time around! Later, when Julian and Ricky are stopped by the cops, Julian turns into a quivering wreck who is so scared, he is unable to speak. This is not the Julian we know and love. Julian has always been the cool guy, 'the smart one', the man with the plan, and his character has really been dumbed down in this film John Paul Tremblay does not have any writing credits in this movie, unlike Robb Wells Ricky.
I wonder if that has anything to do with it. The heist that "Movie Julian" comes up with to set the boys up financially, is utterly stupid. The "real" Julian would not commit armed robbery and risk jail for a container of coins that are mostly pennies, anyway. I was glad to see Corey and Trevor included in the movie and boy, do we see Corey! While Corey and Trevor are sycophantic burnouts, even they wouldn't have been this uncool.
Randy and Leahy were Randy and Leahy. No surprises there, both were good as always, although Randy really didn't get to do much. His "physique" was used to frame a couple of shots, as has been done in the show, with amusing results. I did wonder, however, if the "real" Bubbles would've believed that silly heist was a worthwhile haul for five people, and worth risking a jail term for.
Maybe I'm giving Bubbles credit for being too smart. The characters J-Roc and Ray didn't have much to do at all, and that was a shame. J-Roc, the blue-eyed blonde rapper who truly believes that he is black, is a very funny character.
I enjoyed Lucy's tale of her first date with Ricky. Ah, the memories of romantic bliss They haven't seen all the jokes before, so maybe they'll think the movie is hysterically funny. Who knows? My fear is that they won't think it's funny, and that rather than introduce the franchise to new people, it will kill it. Alternatively, if everyone in America sees this film and thinks it's great, we could be up for a future of more movies like this one. I'm not sure which scenario would be worse for the real fans.
Although the movie was largely expected to be a prequel, the film is not and fits right into where the TV show is Ricky and Lucy are trying to work out their relationship, Trinity is a teenager, etc.
It does however, explain some of the character's history's, so if you've never seen the movie, you won't be totally out of the loop. As per the usual, the show starts with Ricky and Julian getting out of jail, this time because a guard who plays in the jail's hockey league wants Ricky out, so the guards can beat Ricky's team.
Ricky, of course, becomes obsessed with finding out a way to go back to prison, so he can beat the guard's team. Julian decides to work on small scores instead of one big one, to minimize risk. Ricky, however, wants to do the 'Big Dirty', one big job that will put the boys on easy street. After some trials and tribulations, the boys decide to do the 'Big Dirty'.
Despite the big 'budget' of a few million dollars, the movie stays true to its mockumentary origins and it still looks like it was shot on a Handi-Cam.
Odds are, most of the money went to the several car crashes that occurred throughout the movie. The movie is a bit slow in the beginning, but once the boys commit to the Big Dirty, it gets pretty funny. I was worried when I saw the movie was rated 14A here in Alberta, thinking that most of the language and other moral barriers that the TV show crosses on a regular basis was stripped out for the big screen.
Not that I'm a sailor, but the language and the tone in which it is said , is hilarious. Arguably one of Ricky's best lines in the whole movie was, "Trin, cover your ears; f ck you, f ck this court, f ck Randy, f ck his lawyer, f ck my lawyer, f ck Bob's BBQ chicken, f ck the sun, f ck the moon, f ck squirrels, f ck this chair and f ck everybody to do with this.
Many layers of enjoyment for us Canadians to embrace. The soundtrack for instance, who else would pick up on the immortal strains of Helix pumping out some Heavy Metal Love at Ricky and Lucy's wedding.
Platinum Blonde gently caress my ears as the boys venture into the Gentleman's Club and who else but Hugh Dillon of the headstones croons along. This movie is by Canadians, for Canadians, and about Canadians. If that doesn't suit you, that's fine but I for one felt patriotic pride for those minutes, 90 or so, that I sat in that comfy theatre seat.
This movie is is anthemic in proportion. Not that I know what that means. Go see for yourself, the power of the Canadian people. I was really surprised at how great the movie was compared to the classic TV show. It's probably the best comedy of , and the best Canadian movie of the year too. The movie is like an extra long episode of the show with all the usual characters plus a few new ones.
When Julian gets out of jail, he wants to pull off what he calls 'the big dirty' and commit one last big crime so he can retire. At the same time, Ricky is frustrated with his ex-girlfriend working at a strip club, while Bubbles is concerned for his shed and kitties.
DonkeyPuncharello 20 December However for people whom haven't seen the series, this is a good beginning. I would however recommend watching the Christmas special, as this is a prequel to the series and offers a bit more insight to the characters. Or just as good, watch the original TPB pilot movie from , shot in black and white. As good as the movie, maybe even better. As for the movie, I liked it, I love the TV series enough said.
I went in with a slight worry it wouldn't be as good as the TV show. I was cautiously expecting it to mediocrely bomb a little, since often TV show based movies don't live up to the hype of the show. It was nearly flawless from the show. Even the most uptight people in the theatre laughed at that scene. All in all, if you love or even moderately like, the show. At the very worst, its as good as the show.
Thirty sexy days, boys. I love the Trailer Park Boys, and this big screen treatment of the stories of the Sunnyvale crowd did not disappoint. I honestly believe everyone can enjoy this movie, which has a lot of elements of the t.
All those loonies and toonies add up, you know. Look for Hugh Dillon of the Headstones, who apparently has become some sort of an actor, although this is all I've ever seen him in. Some jokes and references that would only be understood by Canadians the names of the movies on the marquee sign, and music from April Wine, Tragically Hip, Platinum Blonde , but most of the humour is accessible for everyone.
This movie is a favourite of mine; if you haven't seen it yet, do. LewisLaker 3 August An American friend of mine showed me this movie and I have to say when he told me what it was about I really thought it sounded like a load of rubbish, I really am so pleased he made me watch it.
It is one of the funniest films I have ever seen. Such a shame it seems to have never been released internationally, If it wasn't for my friend I would never have seen this film, or even heard of it! Its a fantastic film following the life of some "trailer park boys" who go around doing small crimes to live off of.
As the film progresses you find your self becoming so attached to the characters and fall in love with them and their lives. A brilliant film, I see there is a sequel coming out in September. I hope it gets released internationally.
